What We Do

"Live near to God, and all things will appear little to you in comparison with eternal realities."

- R.M. M'Cheyne

Introduction

Sunday Morning Gathering

We assemble every Sunday morning at the Alexandra Centre for our worship service.

At 9:45am people arrive for the 10am Sunday School hour.  Adults meet for in depth teaching while children and toddlers go to their respective classes where they get age-appropriate teaching.

After the Sunday school hour, more people arrive and everyone mingles together, greeting one another like a sort of family reunion.

Once everyone  settles into their seats we begin our main worship service with all of our deliberate attention focussed upon the living God.

After an opening greeting and a few announcements, the elder will begin leading the worship service by reading from a Scripture text as a summons for us to turn our hearts Godward.

This opening meditation  is followed by songs and hymns of praise sung to guitar accompaniment. Many of the hymn lyrics are from earlier centuries set to new guitar arrangements.

A message from the Scriptures is given that aims to exposit (i.e. expose, or unpack) what the passage is saying.

We conclude the service with another hymn and a parting benediction.
An easy transition toward informal conversation and coffee rounds out our time together.

Going
