What Is Your Life? Warnings for What Tomorrow Brings
June 12, 2016 Speaker: Clint Humfrey Series: James: Faith at Work
Topic: Sermon Scripture: James 4:13– 5:6
In Canada, 'end of life' issues are at the centre of political debate. Both the bible and our experience remind us that we will all die. But have we presumed to take control of our lives to such an extent that we can control our dying? Is such arrogance seen in the way our society is filled with exploitation of the weak? James confronts this arrogance with warnings about what tomorrow brings. No one can guarantee what they will do tomorrow, yet the judgement of God is guaranteed to come. All people everywhere need to heed these warnings and seek the only hope available to us in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Outline
- You don’t know tomorrow, so beware of arrogance
- You do know tomorrow, so fear the judgement
- You don't fear tomorrow, because you hope in the Gospel
