Glorifying God with Gifted Servanthood

July 10, 2016 Speaker: Clint Humfrey Series: Stewards of Grace

Topic: Sermon Scripture: 1 Peter 4:10–11

It seems like the world is out of control and filled with extreme reactions everywhere. Yet Peter told the early Christians that the end of all things is at hand, so be “self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers’. (1 Peter 4.7).

If the end is even nearer today, we need to think clearly and prayerfully about what our purpose is. Believers are made to be servants of God and of each other. But we don’t have to love each other in our own strength. We serve with empowerment from God. That way God is glorified in everything that we do. So the question is, what are you here for? Are you stewarding God’s grace and purposes for you? It’s a good time to think about your stewardship of God’s grace, because ‘the end of all things is at hand’!

Outline

  1. You have gifts (v.10a)
  2. Use your gifts (v.10b)
  3. Being stewards of grace (v.11a)
  4. The purpose of servanthood (v.11b)
