Jesus spoke many difficult words to His disciples. Perhaps the hardest of all His teachings is the command to, "Take up his cross."

Taking up a cross is sometimes referenced when someone is dealing with a challenging person or situation. Our culture is more inclined to take up a bed than a cross.
