Here We Stand
Today, the United States Supreme Court redefined marriage to include same-sex couples. This ruling forces every individual state government to comply with the new definition.
The Canadian government did the same thing almost exactly ten years ago, in 2005. It did not end the debate here in Canada; despite various efforts to silence us, evangelical believers have continued to proclaim the truth: marriage, being a picture of the Gospel, is defined by God, and not man. The Gospel did not change in 2005 in Canada, and it has not changed today south of the border. And since the Gospel is unchanged, the true definition and meaning of marriage has not changed either.
The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention today released "Here We Stand: An Evangelical Declaration on Marriage." Already almost 4,000 people have signed this statement.
All of the elders of Calvary Grace Church have signed this statement, and we are glad to stand with our U.S. brothers and sisters in Christ. You can find the declaration here:
